Half moon manicure

Half moon manicure swoją popularność zdobył w latach 20. Jest bardzo elegancki i prosty w wykonaniu. Istnieje kilka wersji tego manicure: taki gdzie łuk u nasady i na końcówce paznokcia są pomalowane na biało, taki gdzie wypełniony bielą jest tylko łuk u nasady lub taki gdzie łuk u nasady paznokcia zostaje pusty.

Jako, że jest to mój ulubiony manicure chciałabym przedstawić dwa proste sposoby na stworzenie jego najprostszej wersji.

Sposób I

1. Pomaluj paznokcie bezbarwną odżywką.

2. Używając cienkiego pędzelka, czerwonym lakierem namaluj łuk u nasady paznokcia.

3. Tym samym kolorem (używając normalnego pędzelka) pomaluj paznokieć pomijając zaznaczone wcześniej łukiem miejsce. 

4. Po upewnieniu się, że lakier jest już suchy, pokryj paznokieć utwardzaczem lub bezbarwnym lakierem.

Sposób II

1. Pomaluj paznokcie bezbarwną odżywką.

2. Cały paznokieć pomaluj czerwonym lakierem i odczekaj około 15 sekund.

3. Używając nasączonego zmywaczem patyczka zmyj lakier, tak by otrzymać kształt łuku.

4. Gdy lakier wyschnie pokryj go utwardzaczem lub bezbarwnym lakierem.

Half moon manicure gained its popularity in 20's. It's very elegant and also easy to make. There are at least three options of that manicure: one with the arcs on the bottom and on the tip of the nail coloured with white nail polish, another one with the arc filled with white nail polish and the last one where varnish is not used at all.

As the half moon manicure is my favourite one, I'd like to present two simple ways of how to create the easiest of the options.

Instruction number I

1. Use colourless nutrient to protect your nails.
2. Using thin brush and nail polish, draw a red  arc at the bottom.
3. Colour the nail with red nail polish (with standard brush) avoiding previously drawn space below the arc.
4. Making sure that your nails are dry, cover them with colourless nail polish or stiffener.

Instruction number II

1. Use colourless nutrient to protect your nails.

2. Colour your nails with red nail polish and wait for 15 seconds.
3. Using cotton bud moistened with nail-varnish remover, wash away nail polish to get the shape of an arc.
4. Making sure that your nails are dry, cover them with colourless nail polish or stiffener.

Pin Up

Mimo, że dziewczyny pin up znane były już wcześniej, swoją popularność zyskały w latach 40. kiedy to były malowane na samolotach, by przynosić szczęście, a prawie każdy mężczyzna miał choć jeden plakat z piękną pin upką. To właśnie stąd wywodzi się nazwa pin up - z języka angielskiego "pin up" znaczy "przypiąć, powiesić". 

Dzisiaj wiele kobiet inspiruje się paniami z plakatów. Jednak ich ubiór i fryzury odbiegają od pierwowzorów. Groszki, bandany czy wiązane koszule w kratę nie są atrybutami oryginalnych pin up. Zazwyczaj miały one na sobie jednolite, zwiewne, szyte z koła spódnice lub sukienki (odsłaniające zalotnie pończochę), w których dekolt miał przeważnie kształt serca, koszule wpuszczone w spódnice z guzikami rozpiętymi trochę bardziej niż zwykle lub delikatne bluzki z dekoltem hiszpańskim. Nie obowiązywały też określone kolory, zależały one bowiem od tego jaki charakter chciano nadać danej dziewczynie. We fryzurach królowały loki lub fale. Włosy pin up zazwyczaj były dość krótkie i kręcone, czasem z delikatną falą ułożoną tak by odsłaniała czoło u góry, a schodząc niżej przykrywała odrobinę twarzy. Popularne również były mocno podkręcone, krótkie grzywki, loki upięte w kok, rozpuszczone lub spięte w dziewczęcy kucyk. Najmniej chyba zmienił się makijaż. Zarówno dawniej jak i dziś charakterystycznymi cechami makijażu pin up są: czarna mocna kreska nad górną powieką, podkreślone brwi, czerwone usta i zarumienione policzki.

Styl dzisiejszych pin up jest dużo bardziej wyrazisty od stylu ich poprzedniczek. Kreska na oku została wydłużona, a brwi mocniej podkreślone. Zaczęto nosić wyższe buty. Bardzo wysokie szpilki są teraz elementem niemalże obowiązkowym. Wśród kolorów dominują: czerń, czerwień, biel i granat. Popularnymi wzorami są groszki, krata, wisienki lub motywy marynarskie. Wśród krojów królują spódnice i sukienki z obcisłą górą i dołem szytym z koła lub ołówkowym. Częściej niż u pin up z lat 40tych i 50tych pojawiają się też spodnie, obowiązkowo z wysokim stanem. Najpopularniejsze są rybaczki lub 7/8 często zestawione z jednolitymi lub wzorzystymi koszulami wiązanymi u dołu. 

Długość włosów zależy już od ich właścicielki - mogą one sięgać aż do pasa lub kończyć się przy ramionach. Mimo to nadal preferowane są loki i fale, rozpuszczone lub spięte w koczek. Innymi popularnymi w dzisiejszych czasach fryzurami są: słynne "victory rolls" lub beehive hairstyle czyli wysoko podniesione u nasady włosy czasem spięte całkowicie, czasem rozpuszczone u dołu. Modne są też krótkie grzywki mocno podkręcone lub ścięte w kształt łódki oraz upięty u góry czoła loczek. Współczesne pin upki często też przewiązują swoje koki bandanami lub wpinają kwiaty we włosy.

Między dzisiejszymi pin up, a ich poprzedniczkami jest wiele różnic lecz niezmiennym pozostaje towarzyszący im urok, wdzięk i klasa.

Despite the fact that pin up girls were known earlier, they gain their popularity in 40's when they were painted on the airplanes in order to bring luck and almost every men had at least one poster with beautiful pin ups.

Nowadays many women are inspired by pin up girls. However, their clothes and hairstyles are quite different from the original ones. Polka dots, bandannas or tied up shirts are not attributes of first pin ups. They usually wore plain, ethereal, circle skirts or dresses (that exposed coquettishly stockings) with heart shaped neckline, shirts unbuttoned more than usually tucked into skirts or blouses with Gypsy/Spanish necklines. None of the colours was obligatory, they were chosen dependently on what kind of pin up woman wanted to play. In hairstyles dominated curls or waves. They were usually quite short and sometimes with the delicate wave put in the way that exposed forehead and covered a small part of a face. There were also popular strongly curled short fringes, curles pinned in buns or ponytails.

Make up has changed the least. Previously and nowodays the most characteristic features are: black lines over the eyelids, accentuate eyebrows, red lips and blushed cheeks.

Comparing to their precursors modern pin up's style is much more expressive. Eyelines have got longer and brows sharper. High heels have become so popular that they are almost obligatory element of outfit. The preferable colours are: black, red, white and navy blue. There are also few prevailing patterns like: polka dots, check, cherries or sailor motives. The most popular sewing patterns are: circle or pencil skirts and dresses with skin-tight top. Contrary to pin ups from 40's and 50's high waisted trousers appeared in outfits, especially 3/4 or 7/8 worn with plain or figured tied up shirts. The lenght of hair depends on its owner - it may reach the line of waist or end up on the line of shoulders. Nevertheless, curles and waves loose or fastened in a bun are still prefered. Other hairstyles very popular nowadays are famous victory rolls, beehive hairstyles, short fringes strongly curled or curl pinned up on the top of the forehead. Modern pin ups use bandannas or flowers to decorate their fastened curls.

Even though there are a few differences between pin ups from 40's and 50's and modern ones, there are things that hasn't changed - pin up girl has her charm and grace.
